JABU to resume on 11th of March, 2013.

Information reaching ngvarsitynews team, have it that Joseph Ayo Babalola university will resume their first semester academic session 2012/2013 on 11th of March.

Students are hereby advised to report to campus early to avoid penalties.

JAMB Direct Entry Application for 2013 Begins - Instructions & Guidelines




The 2013 Direct Entry Scratch Card

The Joint Admissions & Matriculation Board, JAMB has begun e-registration for the 2013 Direct Entry Candidates.

The Direct Entry Programme also know as D.E. enables Diploma Certificate holders (ND,OND,NCE,HND) to study a related course in the University as a Degree Programme without having to write Jamb. However, in some schools, they may be required to sit and pass the Post-UTME exams for such schools they applied for.

To register, you will need to purchase the Direct Entry Scratch Card. As at the time of this publication, only Zenith Bank has been authorized to sell this scratch card. So you may proceed to any branch of Zenith to inquire and purchase yours.

The scratch card costs N4000 though bank charges may apply.

EKSU’S Holds a two-day workshop on strategic plan for the university

A two-day sensitization workshop on the University strategic plan begins on Tuesday March 12, 2013.
The workshop which central theme is Development of a Participatory Strategic Plan for Ekiti State University, Ado – Ekiti will involve several facilitators and speakers ranging from Professors to consultants.

A Statement issued by the Deputy Registrar, Information and Public Relations of the University, Ajibade Olubunmi, indicates that issues such as Mission Statement, core values and the vision of Ekiti State University, agenda setting and critical issues on University Governance will be thrashed out during the workshop.

ASUU may strike from 14th March - Reps Summons Education Minister

THE House of Representatives Tuesday summoned the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqayyatu Rufai and officials of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) in other to avert the impending strike by the union.

In a motion brought to the floor of the House by Rep Bashir Babale, PDP, Kano, said that it is becoming worrisome that university lecturers would have to be embarking on strikes to force government meet its obligations on issues that have been agreed upon in the best interest of the nation’s tertiary education.

In the interest of the nation’s education sector Babale urged the House to quickly intervene with a view to avert the impending strike which ultimatum expires in nine days.

Nigerian Universities Webometric Ranking: OAU, Best Varsity In Nigeria, FUNAAB Ranks Second

This will be good news for students, alumni and management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, as the latest Webometric Ranking of world universities has re-affirmed the intellectual, academic, research and administrative supremacy of the premier institution above other universities in Nigeria.
By this latest ranking released on February 7, 2013, OAU once more rated as the first and the best university in Nigeria, as it moved from being number eight in Nigeria to number one and from 79 to number 14 in Africa.
A release by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the university, Mr Abiodun Olarewaju, said the latest ranking reflected the success of the current administration of the institution under Professor Bamitale Omole who, at his inauguration as vice chancellor, promised to reposition OAU as a leading university in Nigeria and Africa.
The statement congratulated the vice chancellor for putting in place the policies, ideals and goals that made it possible for the institution to attain the feat.
